Innovation on the urban characteristic connotation——starting from deeply excavating the historical development and culture connotation, creatively summarize the eight major urban characteristics of famous historical and cultural city of Guangzhou, and put forward the eight major protection themes. 3. Innovation on the whole frame and protection system——extend and expand the traditional city conservation system in an exploratory manner, make conservation plan from two levels, namely urban administrative region and historic region, and put forward the tangible and intangible cultural heritage protection strategy. 4. Innovation in methods and content——creatively define the scope of Guangzhou historic city for the first time, and emphasize on the conservation plan of historic city from spatial form and pattern with urban design method.
